are the second Thursday of every month, except July & December.
Mini-grants are due the Wednesday before the 2nd Thursday board meeting.


Friday, August 27-September 25
   “The Amazing Museum Race”   Call the CAF Airpower Museum for more information.
    The Peter Hurd Collection , exhibit of paintings by the WWII war correspondent in the Main Gallery  
    at the CAF Airpower Museum.

Friday, August 27 – November 7, Exhibits at the Ellen Noel Art Museum.  George Mendoza:  Colors of
   the Wind, Vibrant paintings by an artist who persevered through visual challenges to share his view of
   the world.  Also, The Global Artistry of Leo and Diane Dillon:  A Retrospective, innovative illustrations
   by the artistic team from the National Center for children’s Illustrated Literature.

Friday, August 27—September 29
   Blissful Achromatopsia:  An exhibition of visual art created by Daiken Asakawa at Option Gallery in the
   Learning Resources Center, Odessa College.  Hours: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., Monday—Thursday; 8a.m. to
   1 p.m. on Friday.

Friday, August 27-October 22
   “Bet I Could Paint That,” an exhibition of large abstract paintings and small animal prints created by
   Local artist, Derrick Conaway, in the Wi-Fi Java Café at Odessa College.  Hours: 7 a.m. – 9p.m.,
   Monday—Thursday; 7 a.m.—1 p.m. Friday.

Friday, August 27—September 30
   Green Works:  An exhibition of collage art created by Mike Haynie using recycled materials at Option
   Gallery in the Learning Resources Center, Odessa College.  Hours: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., Monday—Thursday;
   8a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.

Friday, August 27
   Senior Recital:  Kristal Gonzales, piano.  4:00 p.m. in the Library Lector 001 at UTPB.

Saturday, August 28
   Junior Recital:  Jackson Grist, guitar.  2:00 p.m. Library Lecture 001 at UTPB.

Sunday, August 29
   Sunday Afternoon Jazz at Zucchi’s, 1541 JBS Parkway, 2:00 p.m., featuring Grady Alberts, trumpet;
   James Price, drums; Dean Baker, keyboard; and Mark Lowe, bass.  West Texas Jazz Society members
   are free, Non-members, $15.  Doors open at 1:00 p.m. with a limited lunch menu. 

Wednesday, September 1
   Deadline for grant applications to the Odessa Council for the Arts & Humanities, postmark or delivery
   by 5:00 p.m. to the council office at 119 W. 4th Street, Suite 105.

Wednesday, September 1—October 30
   “Shadow Boxes,” created by Victorians to display keepsakes and treasures, an exhibition at the White-
   Pool House, 112 E. Murphy Street

 

Thursday, September 2
   Lone Star BBQ, 7:00 p.m. at the Willows, $25 per person, featuring BBQ, Beer and the Lone Star Brass,
   The Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale.  Sponsor tickets available.  Call 432-563-0921 for tickets
   and more information.

Friday, September 3
   Mario Kiran: Pratīkōṁ (symbols), The opening reception of an exhibit of fine art prints by the newest
   member of the UTP Art Faculty, 7-9 p.m. in the Nancy Cardozier  Art Gallery at UTPB.

Saturday, September 11
   Masterworks I: “Schumann Turns 200” with Martina Filyak, 2009 Cleveland International Piano
   Competition Winner, 7:00 p.m. at Mid-Cities Community Church.  Call the Midland-Odessa Symphony
   & Chorale at 563-0921 for tickets and more information.

Thursday, September 16
   Volunteer of the Year Luncheon, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Odessa Country Club, honoring volunteers in
   the arts and humanities, sponsored by the Odessa  Council for the Arts & Humanities.  Call the Council
   at 337-1492 for more information and reservations.
